About this Course

Let’s run the bases! This spring, multisport will once again be offered as baseball. Funded by Jays Care, the program teaches children on the autism spectrum fundamental baseball skills, such as running, throwing, catching, and hitting in a safe and supportive environment. The program will be delivered indoors welcome up to 15 participants per session, supported by 5 staff and up to 7 volunteers. Sessions will focus on group activities to facilitate increased social interaction. This team-based learning model and reduced staffing ratio align with Challenger Baseball, a community program that is also supported by Jays Care. By mirroring this format, CAN baseball offers a valuable ‘bridging’ opportunity for participants to practice skills before transitioning to programs outside of CAN. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: • Participants must have a CAN account and an autism diagnosis. • Participants must be of the correct age when the program starts. REGISTRATION INFO: • Registration is first-come, first-served. Open while availability lasts. • Waitlist option will appear once the session is full. • We encourage participants to register for the waitlist! Program space often become available if staffing or participant numbers change. PROGRAM FEE INFO: • This program is not eligible for AFU funding (only CAN program fees greater than $100 are AFU eligible). • Program fees must be paid to confirm registration and can be done by credit card. • If credit card payment is an issue, please contact info@canucksauitsm.ca. • If the program fee represents a financial barrier, please contact info@canucksautism.ca to inquire about our Fee Assistance Program.
